“Angel Spiccia: That girl’s really got something!”
-Joe Maltese, Andy’s Jazz Club

Angel Spiccia has been working with Southport Records and Sparrow Sound Design Recording Studio this year, after completing her demo CD at the studio. A fine vocalist and musician, Angel is an invaluable asset as a session “second engineer,” from setting up microphones to lending a musical perspective to the many recording artists. Angel was a special guest vocalist at this year’s “The Women of Southport Festival” at Andy’s Jazz Club.

THE LAST THURSDAY AT KATERINA'S
The source of musical creation comes from live events and Southport Records continues with the "Last Thursday" each month at Katerina's.

Joanie Pallatto & Sparrow open the evening with “Southport Records Presents a Showcase of Chicago New Music.”

Angel Spiccia, of Glenview, grew up with a strong passion for music, singing and jazz. She started professional vocal training at age 12 with Ed Farran and jazz piano training at the Alan Swain Studios in Evanston. She continued her musical education at Millikin University in Decatur, IL where she earned her degree in commercial music focusing on studio performance and engineering. Outside of her rigorous academic commitments there, she was the featured vocalist for several groups in central Illinois, including the Springfield Broadway Big Band, the Tom Becker Trio, the Blue Bus-consisting of all Millikin music facility, as well as headlining the 2002 Springfield Jazz Fest with the Terry Brennan Quartet. Immediately following, Angel studied abroad for one year in Italy, from where she has recently returned having earned a Music Business degree

Yet before receiving any outside training, Angel was exposed to the music and studio scene from a very early age thanks to her Dad, Maurice Spiccia. Maurice is a professional musician, pianist and founder of Musicworks LTD. He has spent the last 40+ years working in many facets of the industry in Chicago, only after gaining his original musical schooling in his hometown of Rome, Italy.
